Tomorrow will be really cool. Tomorrow, I deliver a cake to someone I’ve never met in person. Someone I’ve never spoken to on the phone. But she is someone that I feel I know. She’s a Blog Friend. You see, I have followed her blogs, she has followed mine. We’ve spoken through comments, Facebook messages, tweets. So when she asked me to make a baby shower cake for one of her friends, I couldn’t say no.
ESPECIALLY when she said that she needed a girly baby shower cake. I DO love girly. (That’s why I had two girls. Duh.)
Allyson writes over at 400 Wake-Ups. She writes about her life as a military wife, as her husband serves with the Army over in Iraq. He won’t be home for quite awhile. Her writing is uplifting and funny, but all too often, it will break your heart. And make you put up your American flag and tell a soldier Thank You the next time you see one on the street.
She also creates amazing jewelry. Allyson is nothing if not multi-talented.
So tomorrow we’ll meet and I’ll present her with this girly, pink, butterfly baby shower cake. It’s vanilla cake, buttercream, marshmallow fondant goodness. I hope her friend loves it!
I loved making it. Mainly because it means I get to see a friend. One I’ve never really met, but I feel I know her through her words and photos. This is the world we live in nowadays. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. See you (for real!) tomorrow, Allyson!
